A microchip number is usually added when a microchip is implanted during a consultation. You can add the number from the consultation page, for a single patient or for several patients at once.
The microchip dialog opens automatically only for procedure items that have microchipping selected in the Special procedure setting. See Set and Use Special Procedures.
Note: The new consultation page is being released during September 2026. You can switch between versions at any time from the top of the consultation page. This article covers how to add a new microchip in both.
Single-Patient Consultations
On the consultation page, under Treatment items, add a microchipping procedure. After the item has been added, the microchip dialog opens automatically. If the dialog does not open, check the microchip settings.
Add the microchip number:
New consultation page: in the Microchip number field.
Old consultation page: in the Microchip ID field.
Add the implantation date. Depending on the settings, this may be required.
New consultation page: in the Implantation date field.
Old consultation page: in the Date of microchip implantation field.
Save the microchip:
New consultation page: select Save microchip.
Old consultation page: select Add.
Multi-Patient Consultations
Note: Multi-patient consultations are not yet available on the new consultation page. If you are working in a multi-patient consultation, switch to the old version from the top of the consultation page.
On the consultation page, under Treatment items, add a microchipping procedure, selecting the patients you want to add the procedure for. After the items have been added, the microchip dialog opens automatically. If the dialog does not open, check the microchip settings.
In the Microchip ID fields, add the microchip numbers for the patients.
In the Date of microchip implantation fields, you can add the implantation date. Depending on the settings, this may be required.
Select the Add button and the Save as new checkbox for each patient.
