Check In a Patient With an Appointment

Checking a patient in is an optional step. It is typically used when a receptionist handles check-ins before the veterinarian begins the consultation. When a veterinarian handles the check-in process and begins the consultation directly, the check-in step can be skipped.

To check a patient in:

  1. Open the patient's appointment in one of the following ways:

    • In the Appointments calendar, right-click on the appointment and select Check in patient from the pop-up menu.

    • Select the appointment in the calendar to open it. In the Appointment details dialog, select Check in patient.

    • On your Dashboard, find the appointment using the Upcoming filter under Scheduled appointments and select the Check in patient button on the appointment row.

  2. Selecting Check in patient opens the Admit consultation page. In Consultation details, you can check the appointment details, edit them, and add a preliminary note.

  3. When ready, select Check in patient.

The patient is checked in and the appointment status changes to 'Checked in'.

To check a patient in from a draft consultation instead, see Check a Patient in from a Draft Consultation.
