Find, View, and Edit Draft Consultations

A draft consultation lets you prepare a consultation before the patient arrives. The appointment is still scheduled, so it stays under Scheduled appointments on the Dashboard, and the draft consultation is also listed under Recent consultations until you check the patient in or start the consultation.

Find and View Draft Consultations

Under Recent consultations on the Dashboard:

  1. Select the Draft filter.

  2. If you only want to find draft consultations that have an appointment for today, select the Show only drafts for today's upcoming appointments checkbox.

  3. To view a draft consultation, select the stethoscope button at the end of the consultation row. The button is grey while the consultation is a draft, and green once the patient has been checked in.

Under Scheduled appointments on the Dashboard:

  • Draft consultations are marked 'Draft' in the optional Consultation status column. If the column is hidden, select Columns to show it.

  • To view a draft consultation, select the button with three dots at the end of the appointment row and select Go to draft consultation from the drop-down menu.

  • To check the patient in without opening the draft consultation, select Check in patient on the appointment row.

In the appointment calendar:

  • To view the draft consultation of an appointment, right-click on the appointment and select Draft Consultation from the drop-down menu.

Edit a Draft Consultation

A draft consultation is marked with the 'Draft' status.

  • On the new consultation page, the status is shown in the bar at the bottom of the page, next to Consultation total.

  • On the old consultation page, the status is shown next to the page title, and a note about the draft is shown below the title.

You can view and edit the consultation basic information and add clinical notes and discharge instructions. If student features are in use, the unapproved notes functions are also available.

To check the patient in from the draft consultation:

  • On the new consultation page, select Check in patient at the bottom of the page. The Admit consultation page opens. Check the consultation details, then select Check in patient to check the patient in, or select Start consultation to start the consultation without checking the patient in.

  • On the old consultation page, select Check In Patient in the bottom right corner.

Checking the patient in is optional. The consultation is no longer a draft once you check the patient in or start the consultation.
