Use the AMPreisV Reference Price

This article is relevant only for the German market.

When you add a medicine to your catalog, Vetera shows an AMPreisV reference price on the item card. You can copy it into the sales price instead of calculating the price yourself.

The reference price is the sales price with the AMPreisV markup applied to the net purchase price. The AMPreisV formula is defined in German law and is the market standard.

Note: The AMPreisV reference price is available for medicine items only.

Copy the Reference Price into the Sales Price

  1. Go to Catalog > Items and open the medicine, or select New to create one.

  2. On the Pricing tab, enter the Purchase price (list) or the Purchase price with VAT. The AMPreisV reference price fields are filled in as you type.

  3. Select AMPreisV price without VAT or AMPreisV price with VAT. The value is copied and a confirmation appears.

  4. Paste the value into Sales price.

  5. Select Save, or Create if you are adding a new medicine.

You cannot type in the two AMPreisV fields. They are calculated for you and are there to be copied.

When you change Sales price, Markup percentage is recalculated to match the new price. Pasting a reference price of 26.44 on a purchase price of 18.49 sets the markup to 43 %.

Tip: When you sell part of a package, the price per unit is usually higher than the package price divided by the number of units, because the rest of the package may not be sold. You can cover this with a percentage handling fee, set up per clinic location under Settings > Clinic location > Handling & injection fees.

What Changes the Reference Price

The reference price is calculated from the purchase price after any wholesaler discount. If you enter a Wholesaler discount %, the reference price goes down.

Off-Label Medicines

An off-label medicine is a medicine used for a species or a condition it is not licensed for. AMPreisV sets a different markup for these medicines, so Vetera calculates their reference price with a different formula.

To mark a medicine as off-label, open the item card and go to the General tab. Under Item options, select the Off-label medicine checkbox.

The AMPreisV reference price on the Pricing tab changes as soon as you select the checkbox, and changes back if you clear it. You do not need to mark a medicine as off-label to use the reference price: it is calculated for every medicine, and the checkbox only decides which formula is used.

Calculate the Reference Price Without the Wholesaler Discount

Some clinics price their medicines on the undiscounted purchase price. You can set this for the whole organization:

  1. Select the clinic location name in the top left, then go to Settings.

  2. On the General tab, select Organization in the list on the left.

  3. Under Organization settings, select the pen button. The settings open for editing.

  4. Select Ignore wholesaler discount for AMPreisV reference price calculation.

  5. Select Save.

The reference price is then calculated on the purchase price, or list price, whatever wholesaler discount is set on the item. The setting applies to all clinic locations in the organization and is cleared by default.
