This article provides an overview of Vetera Pay, an integrated payment platform. Vetera Pay processes payments for counter sale, consultation, and health plan invoices, as well as prepayments and refunds. It supports several payment types: in-person card payments (card swipe), saved card details (tokenization or card on file), online payments (Pay-by-Link), and mail order and telephone order (MOTO) payments. Accepted payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
What Is Vetera Pay?
Vetera Pay is a payment platform that is integrated with Vetera. With Vetera Pay, you can process point of sale (POS) payments with a payment terminal (optional) and several e-commerce payment methods. You start and manage payments in Vetera, which reduces the manual work needed to process payments.
Vetera Pay, like Vetera, is developed by Nordhealth. The payment processor is Adyen.

Payments and Refunds
You can start Vetera Pay payments from counter sale and consultation invoices, when you add a prepayment, and when you start a health plan subscription.
You can also refund payments in Vetera. Refunds in Vetera can be disabled if needed.
The client (shopper) can also start a chargeback, also called a dispute.
Payments can be made by card swipe, with an online link, or with the MOTO method.
See Payments and Refunds, Online Payments (Pay-by-Link), and Mail Order/Telephone Order (MOTO) Payments.
Note: You cannot use Vetera Pay to add payments for multiple invoices with the register payments function. Instead, you can consolidate the invoices and pay the consolidated invoice with Vetera Pay. You can also take a prepayment from the client for the total amount and use the prepayment to pay the invoices.
Prepayments and Prepayment Refunds
You can take and refund prepayments with Vetera Pay.
Tokenization
Tokenization means that the card details of the client (shopper) are stored in Vetera as a token. With the token, the client can make future payments without a physical payment card.
Card details, such as the card number, CVV or CVC, and the cardholder name, are sensitive information. The card details are stored in a secure format and are not available to Nordhealth or to the clinic.
Tokenization is available as an option when you take payments in Vetera. If the card is not saved at first, the card can still be saved during the payment process.
Tokenized cards are listed on the Billing tab of the client's page in Vetera. You can also add or remove cards there.
Recurring Payments
With recurring payments, you receive regular payments from your clients. Recurring payments are often used with health plans. For the client, a recurring payment works like a subscription to an online service.
Recurring payments require a tokenized card. Currently, all recurring payments are credit card and debit card payments. More payment methods will be available in the future.
Payouts to Your Account
A payout is the transfer of money to your bank account. A payout usually takes around two days from the payment.
When a client pays, the payment is taken from the client's bank account. This usually happens immediately or on the same day.
After midnight, the payment is included in your Vetera Pay reports. The payment is included in your payment reports in Vetera immediately after the client pays.
On the morning of the third day, the payout starts.
When the money arrives in your account depends on the transfer time between the banks. The transfer usually takes 0–2 days after the payout starts.
The payout is part of a daily batch for each account. Usually, each clinic location has a point of sale (POS) account and an e-commerce (ECOM) account. There are no payouts on Sundays and Mondays, so payments made on weekends are paid out on Tuesdays.
A transaction fee is deducted from each payout. For more information, see Transaction Fees below.
Transaction Fees
Vetera Pay uses a transaction fee model called Interchange++.
A card payment has four cost components:
An interchange fee goes to the company that issued the card.
A card scheme fee goes to card schemes such as Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.
A processing fee goes to the payment processor, Adyen.
A Nordhealth fee goes to Nordhealth, the provider of Vetera.
All fees are deducted from the payment of the client. For example, if a client pays 100 € and the fees are 1 €, you receive 99 € in your account.
The specific rates are in your Vetera Pay agreement.
Monitoring and Reports
You can follow transactions and other results, and view the status of your devices, in a monitoring and reporting portal. For more information, see Monitoring and Reports.
Customization Options
The Vetera Pay workflow is mostly fixed, but you can change some of the messages that the client (shopper) receives.
